The Barossan [which is released in honour of Peter Lehmann- Baron of
The Barossa} and is outstanding Shiraz: It is mouth-filling and velvety,
making it irresistibly delicious. This immensely appealing Shiraz shows
blackberry, Black Doris plum, cocoa, cedar and cake spice Full-bodied
and glossy, as could be expected, with a bright vermilion hue. Dark
cherry, olive, smoked meat, camphor and a brush of aniseed coat the
cheeks. A clench of reductive tension and nicely embedded oak tighten
things up across a generous chocolatey finish licked with a peppery
spice. Matured in a combination of 1-5 year old French and American
300L oak hogsheads for 12 months. The Barossan Shiraz has an immense
colour that reveals much of what is to follow. Aromas of dark
chocolate-dipped cherries seamlessly combined with flavours of brooding
dark fruits and rich mocha with mature tannins for a long and silky
finish. Powerhouse, velvety Barossa Shiraz in a richly weighted, tour de
force style. A complex, flavour rich and layered new Vintage Shiraz
release with fruit intensity and suppleness. A very fine traditional
Barossa Shiraz tribute indeed.
