We have been big fans of Green Spot for many years. A fantastic Pure Pot Still Irish whiskey, this is their 10 year old release, specially launched to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Spot whiskeys. Matured in bourbon and sherry casks, it is a whiskey with plenty of bright fruity notes. This release revives the orginal 10 year old, and we are glad to see it back.
The Mitchell's family originally were a wine and spirits retailer who started their business in 1805. The first reference to the Spot Whiskey range was in October 1925 when it was advertised in the Irish Times, 100 years ago. They imported wine, port and sherry in cask, and then had their casks filled at the Jameson distillery with whiskey, which is how the Spot range began. Depending on the cask, a different coloured spot was marked on to the cask.
In a unique partnership, there has also been a Green Spot paint shade created. We are looking forward to seeing people painting their home bar Green Spot green.
