“The Muscat cultivar ‘Petit Grain’ or ‘Small Berries’, which is also found in the south of France, shows its adaptability to climate change. More vigorous, fertile, and especially later ripening than its cousin Ottonel, the Petit Grain is more resistant to heat and drought. It is also possible to harvest it on the gravelly soils of Turckheim with a beautiful aromatic maturity without having to wait too long. In 2023, the very slow rise in sugars in the grapes further accentuates this phenomenon and explains a moderate alcohol with of a beautiful aromatic expression. This grape variety deserves to be known in Alsace because it knows how to produce fine, elegant wines, with a moderate alcohol and aromas that invite tasting. Fermentation is rapid on this wine and always results in a dry balance.”
