The name of this vineyard comes from the craggy, erosion-worn mountain which shelters the vineyard. The Appellation Gigondas was awarded by decree in 1971. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10 % Mourvèdre sourced from vines of an average age of 40 years old. The wine is vinified traditionally and aged for 6 months in oak casks. The resulting wine has an aromatic nose with red fruits developing into notes of macerated fruits. Straightforward attack on the palate, with strong tannins, finishing with great depth and strength.
