At Copeland we’re always looking for new ways to innovate and create new flavour profiles. This time we’ve paired incredible Italian red wine casks with our Merchants’ Quay blended whiskey.
Finished for exactly 8 months in Barolo casks, the result is a fabulous limited edition whiskey, bottled at 46% ABV.
Using only one grape variety called Nebbiolo, Barolo is sometimes known as ‘The king of Wines’. Barolo wines tend to age for longer and this all makes for a special cask when wine producers have finished with it.
On the nose this whiskey is sweet, spicey and fruity - punchy lime marmalade, elderflower and candy apple with hints of cedar and Turkish delight.
On the pallet it is dry but highly bodied and well-rounded with plenty of floral, citrus and sweet elements, with a warming finish of dried dark fruits.
