The city of Limoux in the Languedoc is surrounded by vineyards. Wines here are produced under four AOC designations, two of which are Blanquette de Limoux and Crémant de Limoux. The main grape used for these sparkling wines is Mauzac, locally known as Blanquette. It is believed that the world’s first sparkling wine was produced in the region of Limoux in 1531. This wine region is to the eastern foothills of the Pyrenees and beside the fortified city of Carcassonne. The climate is Mediterranean but subject to strong winds, while the rocky clay, sandstone and limestone soils create a distinct terroir.

This has a nice pale yellow color with green tints. Fine and lingering bubbles with delicate foam. A fresh nose with white flowers notes, white fleshed-fruits like pear and citrus aromas as grapefruit. A lively and an unctuous palate with notes of dried fruits. The wine develops toasted aromas on the finish.
Drink on its own or with fish, chicken or white sauce based dishes.
